Week 13

I thoroughly enjoyed the Google Analytics assignments this week. I really like that kind of thing, almost like a scavenger hunt for certain traits on the site. For the most part, I feel pretty confident in my answers and my abilities on the site navigation. I think I did get wrong answers, but I think it is because I did the wrong math. I also thought it was really cool that that much information is tracked and logged on Google Analytics. I never knew that that much was there and ready to be used. I didn’t finish assignments at the beginning of the week because I didn’t understand and by the time I was doing it, it was too late to ask for help. I tried the links for the readings for the Ranking and Link Building information and they were broken. They didnt take me to anything to read and I got lost trying to find what I was supposed to do. I also never was able to figure out what Ranking and Link Building even was. So I opted out of those assignments. That was frustrating for me ...

Week 12

Week 12 was about a lot of catching up and reorganizing my thoughts and things I learned. The readings this week were interesting and brought up a lot of things that I learned in previous classes and experiences with Social Media. I loved feeling like I already knew a lot of this information and tips and strategies because I have felt lost a lot of the time in this class with Google Ads. I have started a business via social media for another class and marketed with social media platform ads. Remembering those things from the past helped my confidence to finish through this week and I felt a little relevant again. I think one thing that I enjoy about social media for businesses is that alot of the advertising can be cheap or even free! Creating content that is shareable and "snackable" allows viewers and customers to potentially share the posts on their own personal page, thus creating a domino effect for other viewers or customers. There is also the element of teaming with s...

Week 10

I am really nervous about this week. I ran my ad campaign and got everything going on that, but I am nervous to fail. I am going to be really disappointed if I don't see any success with my ads. I am doubting there will be any conversions and sales from my site, but if people could at least SEE it, I will be happy. I don't want to feel like I am wasting my time and money.  I am especially worried that I put my tracking codes in the wrong places on my website. I followed the directions as best I could but I am thinking I may not have put them in the right places. I guess time will tell if no results are showing on the analytics. I definitely need to make my ads more elaborate. I felt fine about the one I created, but after reviewing the next project instructions, I definitely feel like I am sliding by by the skin on my teeth. I will need to create more ads and ad groups (I just have the one right now) and hopefully be able to create success.

Week 9

This week was interesting! I really like the features of Google Analytics that I am learning about. I think it is really handy how it connects to my Google Ads account. I had a hard time following the video of how to get the tracking code onto the site. My Analytics account looked different than what was shown in the video and so I looked in a lot of other places to see if I could figure out where I was supposed to get a tracking code. I THINK I figured it out, and so I then followed instructions on how to edit my code in Shopify but I am unsure if I put the tracking code in the correct place…. So I hope that my Analytics account will actually track data from my site. I am really excited to see how it all works together, though, and see what parts of my ads and site are strong and which areas I need to work on a little bit more.

Week 8

This week was easier with the light workload, but I also still feel confused and lost with Google Ads. I finally realized how to make a text ad rather than a display ad but I don't feel confident in the best tactics to write a good one. I liked the tips that Google Adwords give on creating successful text ads, but I guess what I want to know is how long should it be? With 180 characters available, should I be using as much of that as possible? I personally feel like no one would want to read an ad that is that long. But I am also a beginner. I think with some more research and practice, I will get the hang of this. I still feel similar in that with the keywords too. I know once I am running my ads and see which words are doing well and where, etc, I will be able to understand a little more about how to pick the best words.

Week 7 Reflection

This week about Ad Words was a lot for me. While the work load was lighter, I do believe the information was a lot more complicated. I also think that I have a lot more to learn. I am feeling like it will take a lot of practice with keywords to see how certain ones work or don't work. In the campaign assignment, it was challenging because Ad Words gets a facelift pretty often so I think the layout or design of the website changes a lot. I had a hard time finding the right buttons to follow the assignment instructions. As for keywords, I do enjoy the brain storming that comes along with that. I feel as though I tend to go a little too broad and need to work on getting that sweet spot of not too specific and not too broad. I also need to practice thinking outside the box.

Week 5 Reflection

I enjoyed the little about website design we learned this week. With my major being Web Design, this is my cup of tea. While I know there is still a lot for me to learn about website design, I do feel like I already knew the tips from the article, i.e., simple equals professional, the tips about the navigation bar, the logo being visible and simple, etc. I have coded with HTML, CSS and others, but using a site builder is a newer experience for me. The part that has been the learning curve so far is using Shopify. It took me a while to figure out how to connect it to my PayPal account to allow for the credit card payments. In the past with sites I have built 100% myself, I have just added the paypal button code to my HTML and it has worked just fine. Maybe once I get the site rolling, I will like the site builder aspect more and maybe the button will be more easily customized this way?? We will see!
